PhD/Post doc with bioinformatic experience for translational studies in inflammatory skin diseases
Department of Dermatology and Allergy, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital, Denmark
We are looking for an excellent and highly motivated full-time researcher for postdoctoral studies or PhD studies.
Our research
The Translational Skin Science lab is a diverse and interdisciplinary team undertaking ambitious translational research projects. Patients are enrolled in the studies at the Department of Dermatology and Allergy, Herlev and Gentofte Hospital, and in this project, we characterize skin diseases using mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics of clinical samples for patient phenotyping at the protein level.
We have a good working environment, and you will be surrounded by friendly colleagues.
Qualifications of the candidate
The right candidate will be joining a skilled and friendly team with complementary expertise in skin biology and pathology, and proteomics. We expect the candidate to be the driving force of a translational project while supporting the team’s ongoing translational research studies. You will be working on patient material from clinical cohorts with the aim to improve our understanding of human disease and to discover biomarkers for personalized medicine - including sample preparation, data acquisition, data processing and bioinformatic analyses.
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, self-driven team-player with knowledge and practical experience in MS-based proteomics and a passion for system biology approaches to profile skin disease states. The ideal candidate has excellent communications skills and most importantly, a strong desire to make a lasting impact in their field. You have the analytic skills required to analyze omics data, or the motivation to acquire it.
Candidates for the postdoctoral positions must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) and are expected to have demonstrated achievements in their field of research.
The project will be based and coordinated from the Department of Dermatology and Allergy, Gentofte Hospital, where the majority of the research including patient enrollment, sample processing, and data analysis will be carried out.
In addition, we expect that you:
- Have a passion for medical research and an interest in skin disease.
- Work closely together with other researchers and clinicians.
- Take responsibility, you are structured, committed, and flexible and has a positive attitude.
- Are willing to make decisions and act on your own to embrace the diversity in the tasks, and ability to work independently and collaboratively on a number of concurrent projects.
- Like interacting with colleagues across functions, locations, and cultures.
- Can work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and collaborate with clinical researchers, and data managers both locally and internationally.
- Excellent time management and be able to work to deadlines.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Support funding initiatives.
- Participate in teaching and training activities as part of the position.
- Have experience in the analysis and interpretation of data from large and complex data sets.
- Support other researchers in analyses of data from large and complex databases.
- Lead and support the writing of papers and present findings based on original research for peer-review journals.
- Experience with the development and maintenance of webpages is an advance.
The position is for 12 months with the possibility of extension. The position is funded by research grants. The appointment is in accordance with current public agreements between the Capital Region of Copenhagen and the relevant professional organization. Salary is in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) on Academics in the Region. Your workplace will be at the Department of Dermatology and Allergy, Gentofte Hospital.
We encourage everyone regardless of personal background to apply.
